Councillors on St Buryan, Lamorna and Paul Parish Council are elected once every four years, usually in May but we also co-opt Members when vacancies arise between elections. We have a 12 Councillors when at a full complement.

St Buryan Lamorna and Paul Parish Committees

Finance Committee

he role of the Finance Committee is to work closely with the Clerk, who is the Responsible Financial Officer, to prepare the Parish Council’s overall budget annually and make recommendations for the annual precept, based on the budget.

Responsibilities include:

Authorising all expenditure at the monthly Parish Council meetings to ensure all payments are correctly made
Monitoring actual income and expenditure against the budget during the year to ensure expenditure is kept within budget
Ensuring accurate and complete financial records are maintained that meet the requirements of the external auditor
Reviewing the Parish Council’s banking arrangements and accounting practices
Allocating reserves for the replacement of equipment and property.

Policy Committee

To establish and review all policies relating to the running of the council and the conduct of councillors and employees of the parish council.

Communications Committee

To oversee the main communication channels of the parish council including the website and facebook page to keep residents up to date with items relevant to the running of the parish council and matters of interest to the community.

Burial Committee

To implement the burial policy (including charges) for all burial requests jointly with both church and Methodist representatives.

Footpath Committee

The parish council contracts for the cutting of footpaths and bridleways across the parish based on a grading system of gold, silver or bronze standard.

Planning Committee

The parish council is consulted on all planning applications in the parish. However, the final decision on all planning matters is made by Cornwall Council.
